About Us

The Cen-Tex Modelers, Inc. was organized in 1972 and chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) to advance the enjoyment of building and flying model aircraft. Our flying site is leased from the US Army Corp of Engineers at Stillhouse Hollow Lake near Killeen, TX and consists of a 30’ x 300’ Geo-Tex runway and an intersecting grass runway to support most aircraft types. We fly small and large scale aircraft, although while allowed, turbines are not common due to the size of the runway. When flying turbines, we visit our sister club, HOTMAC, in Waco, TX for a fun day of burning Jet fuel. All the facilities are maintained using donations or membership dues and no tax dollars are used.

Membership meetings are called at least quarterly and vary in location so the best way to learn more is to contact a board member below. We welcome anyone wanting to join the hobby and have aircraft and instructors to let you give it a try. During the weekend mornings, especially with good weather, is a great time to visit and as you will find plenty of welcoming members flying who are willing to help. Just tell them you are new and want to know more.
